Leeds-based brand design agency, BML Creative has recently launched – a new microsite which celebrates some of the best clocks in and around the city. As part of BML’s tenth anniversary, a series of exciting side projects have taken place over the last year, the latest being a celebration of the city’s timepieces in the form of a new illustration-based website. From the famous Yorkshire Post Tower to the majestic gold clock which hangs above Millennium Square, Clocks of Leeds showcases iconic landmarks from across the city. Each clock displays the current time, and the collection is set to include some of the more unusual and hard to find clocks. BML plan to add to this collection on a regular basis and already have already chosen the next round of clocks to be illustrated. The clock illustrations have also been released as art prints and are available to buy online from the BML shop in sizes ranging from A4 to A1. Prints in the BML shop are created by BML designers in their spare time. All proceeds from the sale of prints go to local charity, St Gemma’s Hospice.

James Lodge, Graphic Designer at BML said… “Home to the famous Potts of Leeds, the city has a proud legacy in timekeeping. Therefore, it was only fitting that we celebrated the city’s clocks. The online gallery has been a really fun project to work on. It’s always nice to work on something with no constraints and experiment a little. I particularly love that we’ve been able to animate the clock faces, it’s a nice little touch which hopefully the odd person notices!” James continued, “It’s also great that the project will benefit the great people at St Gemma’s Hospice – an organisation close to all our hearts. Our charity print shop has been extremely popular since launch and it’s great that we can support local charities by giving up just a small amount of our time.” Rik Kendell, Developer at BML said… “The microsite has been a great side-project for us. It’s an idea we’ve had in our back pocket for a while, so to be able to bring it to life with the team has been fantastic. We were given free-reign over the project and have created something a little bit different from the usual client-based work. We’ve been able to stretch our legs, both with the creative and technical sides, which also benefits our clients. Rik Continued, “Researching local clocks has been fun, and choosing which to illustrate was part of the challenge. We’re excited to see Clocks of Leeds grow over the coming months, so share it around using #ClocksOfLeeds and keep checking back for new additions!” – ENDS Press pack and supporting hi-res images and logos:
